Once again, Facebook has made adjustments to its newsfeed algorithm- this time based on the fact that we (as Facebook users) want more actual news in our newsfeed.

More news, while relevant and timely, means less space for everything else- including your brand’s recent post.

Currently, on average, the organic reach of a post is just 16%– and because of these recent changes, it’s going down. So what can you do?


Generally, pictures get more engagement and stand out more. Instead of posting a “status update,” post a picture.

You can add as much written content as you’d like to go along with your picture. Find an eye-catching picture that will draw attention to your post!


Encourage your page fans to “share” your post on their own newsfeeds. This is a quick organic way to reach a larger audience.

In addition to encouraging them to share, ask your fans to also comment in your comment section. This is a double whammy of organic goodness because…


A post with a lot of comments (in addition to “likes” and “shares”) tends to get more organic reach. If you encourage your fans to both share and comment, you’re doubling your chances of increasing exposure.

Generally, you should keep your post topics relevant to your brand, but an easy way to get comments is to ask a question that is timely.
